Become a volunteer with the Hanover Fire Department -- be one of the dedicated men and women who donates their time when your community calls. It truly is the experience of a lifetime! We are always looking for individuals who are committed to making a difference in the community. If you feel you have what it takes to meet the challenges of our business, we would very much like to talk to you. Prior firefighting experience is not required.
The members of the Hanover Fire Department respond to a variety of calls throughout the year, including medical emergencies, motor vehicle accidents, hazardous material incidents, alarms, water emergencies, brush fires and structure fires. Our members are given the opportunity to cross train on fire and emergency medical services. All training and equipment are provided free of charge and no experience is necessary.

Member Benefits
FREE FIREFIGHTER AND MEDICAL TRAINING
You provide the commitment and we provide all of the training for FREE. From in-house, local and county training, to state certified courses, and regional and national seminars and conferences – we offer you the opportunity to explore every avenue of emergency services and train you to be the best at what you do. In addition to formal training classes, we conduct monthly training drills to teach new skills and/or practice what you’ve learned to keep them honed and ready to use.
RETIREMENT INCENTIVES
You may be a volunteer but that doesn’t mean there are not financial incentives. Active members with 10+ years of membership are afforded a generous annual retirement program.
FIRE DEPARTMENT FAMILY (Second Family & Lifelong Friendships)
When you walk in the door of the HFD, you’ll be home. You will find a second family waiting for you. On duty and off, the members of the department share a common bond to serve their community. When you become an HFD firefighter, you join the ranks of the most trusted and respected people in our community. You also gain a whole new family of brother and sister firefighters.
